Countdown on until we farewell the infamous Bayswater Bridge

• Major works progressing on METRONET's New Bayswater Station, supporting 350 jobs
• First beams of new, taller Bayswater Bridge installed, with another 50 to come
• Countdown on with current Bayswater Bridge to be removed by the end of the year

The clock is ticking for the infamous Bayswater Bridge, with work now under way on the taller, bigger bridge being delivered as part of the METRONET New Bayswater Station upgrade.

The bridge, which currently has a 3.8 metre clearance and a well-known appetite for trucks, will be removed by the end of the year and replaced by a new structure with a 4.8 metre clearance.

To commemorate the infamous bridge, the McGowan Government is asking the community to have their say on how the structure should be farewelled.

The structures for the new bridge are taking shape with two large beams installed last week to support the new lines and longer platforms, with 50 more beams to be installed in coming months.

The McGowan Government is continuing major works on METRONET's new Bayswater Station.

Pipes have been installed beneath the rail with excavation works occurring either side of the track to enable foundations to be installed for the new overhead line equipment.

Once complete, this will be one of the most important stations on the network, improving connections to the Bayswater town centre, invigorating the area and providing opportunities for further investment in local jobs and greater amenities.

The new Bayswater Station will improve connections in Bayswater's heritage town centre for cyclists and pedestrians while also connecting people to the Midland, Airport and Morley-Ellenbrook lines for travel directly to Perth Airport, the Swan Valley tourist region and the CBD.
