After its history-making direct maiden voyage from Perth to London, the Qantas Dreamliner is heading back to Perth, from London, bringing a planeload of visitors to Western Australia.
Premier Mark McGowan and Tourism Minister Paul Papalia were at Heathrow to farewell passengers and hand out complementary trips to Rottnest Island to mark the occasion.
Visitors on the inaugural return flight will arrive tomorrow morning to a traditional Aboriginal welcome to country, and a 'Welcome to WA' pack including a stuffed toy quokka, sunscreen, and a book of discount vouchers to use in Perth.
Some of the United Kingdom's top travel and lifestyle editors, and freelance writers, who are on board the flight will spend several days experiencing some of the highlights of Perth and the Margaret River region.
There will also be a film crew from ITV on board who will broadcast live from Perth as part of a competition for viewers of UK TV programs This Morning and Lorraine, to win flights to Perth.
The direct flights will change the way people travel between Europe and Australia, and provide the opportunity to sell Perth, and WA, as the place to start an Australian holiday.
