Premier Geoff Gallop has praised the efforts of 12 young Western Australian students taking part in ANZAC Day commemorations in London.
Seven of the students - Tegan Sullivan, Danielle Williams, Brock Tucker, Aaron Porebski, Joshua Caddy, Melanie Kerrigan and Jon Tiller - recited prayers at the first Dawn Service at the new ANZAC memorial in London's Hyde Park Corner.
Two students - Edward Robinson and Megan Harrod - will recite prayers at the Cenotaph, while Sarah Scaife, Megan Pillinger and Timothy Grimes have speaking roles at the ANZAC Day Commemoration Service at Westminster Abbey.
The Premier will recite the poem 'ANZAC Cove' by Leon Gallert at the Westminister Abbey service. (Leon Gallert was a private in the 10th AIF and was wounded in the Gallipoli landings.)
Dr Gallop expressed pride at the way the students, ranging from Year 8 to Year 12, were handling the key speaking roles at such an important event for Australians.
"These students were chosen for the inaugural tour because of their knowledge and understanding of the values of ANZAC Day," he said.
"They have an outstanding grasp of WA's role in 20th century military history and this trip is helping to expand their knowledge.
"Today is extra special for them because of their speaking roles at three key ANZAC Day events in London.
"Western Australians have every right to be proud of them."
Before today's services in London, the group toured significant Australian battlefield sites and memorials in France.
Tomorrow (April 26), the group will visit 10 Downing Street.
