Minister to open new premises for Western Process Controls
11/12/03
State Development Minister Clive Brown officially opened the new Canning Vale office and warehouse complex for Western Process Controls (WPC).
WPC represent and service world-class Fisher process control valves and instrumentation used in the local oil and gas and mineral processing industries - industries that help underpin WA's performance as Australia's leading economy.
Mr Brown congratulated WPC on its growth from a company employing three people in 1987 to its present day status with a turnover approaching $20million, employing 25 people.
"From humble beginnings in 1987, WPC is now Western Australia's largest control valve engineering service company with further potential for expansion," he said.
"As our resource sector continues to grow further opportunities for the development of support industries are created, providing more jobs and opportunities for Western Australians."
The control valve supply and service business is a local employee-owned company with eight of its employees having a shareholding.
WPC is also a representative for numerous other multinational manufacturers of process control equipment used in the petroleum, gas, metals and mineral processing industries, including Farris, Cooper Cameron, El-o-matic, KSB and Bettis.
The company has a remote metering and telemetry capability through its supply of the Fisher range of remote operated controllers (ROC) and CYNET radio-based telemetry systems manufactured in Queensland.
"Important for local industry is the company's comprehensive valve automation products, providing customers with the ability to mix and match engineering products to their specifications and have them assembled and tested in a Perth-based facility," Mr Brown said.
The new Canning Vale facilities include a 13,000sqm workshop and warehouse, and a 600sqm two-storey office building, housing customer service, applications engineering, marketing and finance. The workshop contains a NATA accredited pressure testing facility.
WPC's clients include Woodside Energy Ltd, CSBP and Farmers, Alcoa, BP Oil Kwinana, Agility, BHP-Billiton, WMC Resources, Apache, Clough, Chevron Texaco and Kvaerner.
