Armadale Development Authority opens new office
31/05/02
The Armadale Redevelopment Authority's new office at the Jull Street Mall entrance to the Armadale Shopping City was opened today by Planning and Infrastructure Minister Alannah MacTiernan.
Ms MacTiernan said the new office would provide a physical presence and focus for the authority in the town centre.
"It will help ensure there is a good dialogue between the authority and the community as it gets under way with its job of revamping the city," she said.
"Armadale has suffered from a lack of government investment, in comparison with Perth's other main regional centres.
"The Gallop Government promises to turn this around. Already we see private sector investment in the area as confidence in our future grows."
Authority chairman Gerry Gauntlett said the ARA Board would co-ordinate its activities with the City of Armadale, as well as encouraging development proposals from Government agencies and, importantly, engaging the private sector.
"Also, through the Armadale Community Reference Group appointed in March, we will also be working closely with the local community," Mr Gauntlett said.
Ms MacTiernan said staffing and corporate support for the Armadale Redevelopment Authority would be provided through a service agreement with the State Government's land development agency, LandCorp.
The Armadale Redevelopment Authority office will be open to the public from 8:30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
