Acting Premier and Resources Development Minister Colin Barnett will escort the Vietnamese Prime Minister Mr Vo Van Kiet on a tour of the Pilbara region on Sunday, May 30.

Mr Kiet and an official Vietnamese delegation, including the Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and senior officials, are in Australia as guests of the Commonwealth Government.

Mr Barnett said the visit showed Vietnam's increasing confidence in trading with Australia and Western Australia.

Mr Barnett said Vietnam, with a population of 71 million, was set to be another 'tiger economy' of Asia.

One of the most significant projects in Vietnam includes BHP Petroleum Pty Limited's work on the world-class oilfield, Dai Hung (Big Bear), off the south coast of Vietnam.

WA companies are increasingly active in Vietnam.
