The Minister congratulated Mr Glennon on his appointment as a member to the authority and Ms Robinson as deputy chairman.

"Ms Robinson, who was appointed a member to the authority in May this year, is the first woman to be appointed deputy chairman of the EPA," Mrs Edwardes said.

Ms Robinson replaces Mr Chris Rowe, whose appointment expires at the end of the year.

Mrs Edwardes said she would like to thank Mr Rowe for the valuable work he had done for the EPA.

Ms Robinson has been appointed from January 1, 1998 until December 31, 1999.

She is currently managing director of Strategic Environmental Solutions and Auriga Consulting Pty Ltd.

Mr Glennon is managing director and board member of Environmental Solutions International - Western Australia.

"Mr Glennon has a wide knowledge of environment and pollution management systems and engineering and well understands the principles of ecologically sustainable development and biodiversity," Mrs Edwardes said.

In addition, Mr Glennon is a director and immediate past chairman of the Environment Management Industry Association of Australia (EMIAA), which comprises more than 200 private sector companies, research centres, tertiary institutions and Federal and State departments to promote business involvement in sustainable development.
