27/3/96
Family and Children's Services has agreed to additional funding for the Armadale Youth Accommodation Service.
Family and Children's Services Minister Cheryl Edwardes announced today that the department had approved an additional $34,708 for six months, making a total of $191,316 this year.
"The Armadale Youth Accommodation Service is a 24 hour crisis service for young people aged between 14 and 18 years," Mrs Edwardes said.
"This is extremely important for the community as it helps those young people who, for a variety of reasons, have serious personal problems and find it difficult to live at home or in other stable accommodation.
"The service is run by a coordinator and youth workers. It is extremely important to have appropriately qualified staff who understand the problems of young people.
"This Agreement for additional funding of services will enable the agency to continue providing valuable and specific resources to young people in the Armadale area"
