$1 million asbestos cement roof replacement program

Three local schools will have asbestos roofs replaced as part of a $1 million asbestos cement roof replacement program through the Education Department.

Tenders have been called for the projects at Thornlie Primary School to replace all asbestos cement roofs at a cost of $180,000; to replace the roofs on the main block south of the Melville Senior High School at a cost of $80,000; and to replace all asbestos roofs at Kardinya Primary School at a cost of $190,000.

Work is due to being and be completed during the December/January school holidays. It is the Education Department's policy that no-one is on the school site at the time of asbestos roof replacement.
