Western Australia's largest careers and employment expo gets underway in Perth today, with more than 120 employers and organisations showcasing the diverse range of higher education, vocational training and job opportunities on offer throughout the State.

The Perth SkillsWest Careers & Employment Expo (SkillsWest) is now in its 15th year. It is expected more than 11,000 secondary students, graduates, and career changers will attend SkillsWest to explore the multitude of different industry and career pathways, and education and training pathways all under one roof.

WA's TAFE sector will be on show at SkillsWest, highlighting the variety of job and career opportunities available through vocational training pathways.

With the Cook Government's ongoing investment to make training affordable and accessible to all Western Australians, there's never been a better time to train in WA. Opportunities are now available to skill, reskill and upskill in more than 130 fee free courses in high demand industries.

Friendly, knowledgeable and professional staff from the State Government's Jobs and Skills Centres will be on hand to provide people with one-on-one advice about a range of specialist programs and services, free and low fee training, and other initiatives to help connect Western Australians with thousands of job opportunities.

Staff from North Metropolitan TAFE and South Metropolitan TAFE will also be able to help visitors with information about courses including apprenticeships and traineeships and pathways to employment.

In the WorldSkills Try'aSkill zone, visitors can speak with industry experts and take part in hands-on activities to learn about a variety of trades and skilled professions such as building and construction and virtual and autonomous technologies.

SkillsWest attendees are also encouraged to visit pavilion 3 to watch the TeamWA Skillaroos in action. They will be working on their trades projects ahead of representing Australia at the 47th WorldSkills Competition in Lyon in September 2024. The TeamWA Skillaroos will be showcasing their talents in cabinet making, wall and floor tiling, painting and decorating and cybersecurity.

The SkillsWest Expo is on at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre until Saturday, 27 July.
