Sponsorship boost for Australia's longest running tech festival
• State Government extends support of West Tech Fest by committing $500,000
• Funds provide certainty for the festival and WA's startup innovators
• Thousands of innovators expected to attend the West Tech Fest
West Tech Fest has secured a further $500,000 in sponsorship from the Cook Government to continue its support of the week-long festival for another two years.
Supported through the Government's New Industries Fund, the tech and innovator focused festival has built a global network which attracts both interstate and overseas innovators and investors.
West Tech Fest is now the longest-running tech and innovation festival in Australia and this year there are 20 events scheduled during 4-8 December that will showcase our local tech sector to a global audience.
Hosted by Curtin University, with the Cook Government as presenting partner, the festival is supported by a wide range of sponsors from Government, industry and the education sector.
Highlights for this year include West Tech Main, West Tech Women, the brand-new West Tech Coast, Innovation Showcase and Freo Startup Fest.
There will be 14 satellite events this year to coincide with West Tech Fest such as the Diversity and Innovation Tech West, Mandurah Tech Showdown, Perth Biodesign Showcase, First Nations X, and events focussing on blockchain, web3, angel investing and agtech.
The Cook Government's $25.8 million New Industries Fund supports new and emerging businesses and projects that build entrepreneurship, innovation and commercialisation that lead to economic diversification and more local jobs.
