RED grants supporting industry job creation in the Great Southern
- Four Great Southern projects to receive $470,000 Regional Economic Development Grant funding
- Cook Government investing in health care, veterinary services, childcare and manufacturing in the region
Four Great Southern projects will share in $470,000 funding under Round 6 of the Cook Government's Regional Economic Development (RED) Grants program.
The RED Grants program is investing $50.85 million over nine years toward locally driven projects to stimulate economic growth and build resilience in the regions.
Successful projects in Round 6 will diversify the health care sector and support the expansion of manufacturing and childcare services in the Great Southern.
The Ocean Beach Health Group will use its $150,000 grant for the development of a five room, multi-disciplinary, allied health centre in Denmark, to provide a shared care model of health care.
Theproject will create sustainable jobs and expand the range of allied health options not currently available in the area.
Albany-based Village Childcare Services has been awarded $140,000 to establish a long day care centre in Albany and expand existing outside school hours and vacation care.
The funding will provide an additional 68 childcare placements from 0-12 years.
Gracefield Enterprises has received $110,000 to upgrade the Katanning Veterinary Clinic into the only purpose-built 24/7 Veterinary Hospital in the Upper Great Southern region.
The RED Grant will be used to purchase specialised medical equipment, high quality veterinary animal housing and emergency and critical care equipment.
A $70,000 grant will fund the expansion of Cannabis Botanical Distillery's manufacturing facility in Denmark, increasing their manufacturing capacity from 3,500 to 35,000 litres per annum.
