- Part of $8.5 million investment in 'the Kings Park of the north'
- New playground, boardwalk and improved car park also in the pipeline
Mountain biking in the heart of Perth's northern suburbs is a step closer with design and construction of family-friendly trails at Lake Joondalup going to tender.
The project, which will also deliver additional car parking, toilets and bike shelters, is part of an $8.5 million Cook Government investment in what is being dubbed 'the Kings Park of the north'.
Other investments earmarked for Yellagonga Regional Park include mountain bike trails, a new adventure playground and boardwalk at the Luisini Winery on the eastern shore of Lake Goollelal and upgraded dual-use pathways and improved car parking at Perry's Paddock.
Construction of new limestone pathways linking Duffy House into the park's pathway network are under construction, with further tenders to follow soon.
There will be additional planting and restoration work around the lake in partnership with the Friends of Yellagonga Regional Park community group.
A viewing platform and boardwalk will also be constructed by the City of Wanneroo to provide better access to Lake Joondalup.
