A range of adventurous and dynamic career opportunities in Western Australia's tourism and hospitality industry will be on show as WA's largest careers and employment expo gets underway in Perth today until Saturday 27 July.

Representatives from WA's vibrant tourism industry will join Tourism WA to promote Western Australian opportunities to students and job seekers at the Perth SkillsWest Careers & Employment Expo (SkillsWest).

It forms part of the State Government's ongoing strategy to grow and retain a high-performing tourism workforce, with $4.9 million committed over the next two years to continue the Tourism Workforce Development Program, which includes support at SkillsWest.

The program has delivered more than 135 tourism and hospitality job-ready and upskilling workshops to over 1,430 participants across Perth and regional WA since its inception in 2022.

It has also reached more than 15,500 secondary school students and educators through
in-school careers information promotion and cookery demonstration programs, and in partnership with StudyPerth, has provided training in hospitality skills for over 500 international students.

Job seekers can also access a dedicated tourism jobs and careers information portal through westernaustralia.jobs

Since its launch, in partnership with the Australian Hotels Association WA, nearly 1,000 employers have registered on the site, attracting more than 11,000 job seekers and over 4,700 applications.

WA's tourism and hospitality sector currently supports around 110,000 jobs, with jobs impacted by the pandemic refilled, and the industry on a growth trajectory.
