Community education waste reduction program recipients announced
Western Australian businesses, local governments and community groups will share in $250,000 in funding to encourage the community to do better than the bin and help make landfill the last resort.

Western
Australian businesses, local governments and community groups will share in
$250,000 in funding to encourage the community to do better than the bin and
help make landfill the last resort.
The WasteSorted Community Education Grants Program supports organisations that promote better waste behaviours, practices and awareness.
Projects funded by this year's program include waste workshops at farmers markets, waste facility tours for culturally and linguistically diverse community members and clothes swap events for all ages from a range of local government, charity, and not-for-profits.
Funding was awarded to projects that support the Waste Strategy's objectives of avoiding waste, recovering value and resources, and protecting the environment.
The State Government has provided more than $8.65 million in WasteSorted grants since 2017 for projects which improve the recovery of materials including plastics, construction and demolition waste, textiles, food organics and garden organics.

The Shire of Capel will also hold nine pre-event waste workshops and run workshops at six schools during Term 1, 2024. |
