A new masterplan for the former Brownlie Towers site, in Bentley, will be developed in consultation with the local community and relevant stakeholders.
  • Former Brownlie Towers site to undergo new masterplan and community engagement
  • Twenty-two hectares of site to be transformed into diverse housing options with community facilities

A new masterplan for the former Brownlie Towers site, in Bentley, will be developed in consultation with the local community and relevant stakeholders.

The COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent heated construction market have permanently changed the economics in delivering large-scale redevelopments, and the Government continues to respond to these impacts.

A survey to immediate residents and local stakeholders will be undertaken to help shape the future of the site.

Located around eight kilometres south-east of the Perth CBD, this redevelopment project provides the opportunity to deliver a high-quality infill development while boosting social housing.

"The Cook Government is tackling a number of large-scale legacy redevelopment projects which are currently undergoing major renewal works to boost the State's housing supply – including projects in North Beach, Subiaco, and Bentley.

"These are the first steps towards the creation of an inclusive community at Bentley, as part of an important broader urban regeneration project."

Comments attributed to Victoria Park MLA Hannah Beazley:

"As the Member for Victoria Park, I'm proud the Cook Government is getting on with the Bentley Urban Renewal Project to boost housing and amenity in my local community.

"This project is a fantastic opportunity for the State Government to deliver high-quality inner-metro infill development to help boost our local housing supply and facilitate broader urban regeneration to what is already a diverse and dynamic community.

"I know residents within my electorate will welcome news that the State Government is looking to consult locals on the future of the site through community engagement - together we can transform this 22-hectare site into a place more people can call home and enjoy."
