Community organisations and local governments across Western Australia will share in $70,000 of Cook Government funding to host a range of Thank a Volunteer Day activities.
Volunteering Minister Don Punch today announced the 71 successful grant recipients that will be supported by the Department of Communities' 2024 Thank a Volunteer Day Grants Program.
In Western Australia, Thank a Volunteer Day is celebrated annually on 5 December on International Volunteer Day and is a reminder to recognise the generous contributions of volunteers across the State.
The grants program supports organisations and local governments across WA in recognising and celebrating their volunteers through activities such as award ceremonies, morning or afternoon teas, workshops and more.
The 2024 Thank a Volunteer Day Grants will fund a range of activities including a Picnic in the Paddock by Riding for the Disabled Association of Western Australia – Carine Group Inc., a morning tea at the Wildflower Society of Western Australia's new Wildflower Nursery, and a Bands Bash at the Oval by Wickepin Community Resource Centre.
