A new Western Australia Visitor Centre will open in mid-2025 at Perth Station, offering a world-class welcome to tourists with personalised advice and services.

The new facility will significantly improve the services currently provided at the existing WA Visitor Centre, offering upgraded information and facilities to enhance tourists' overall visitor experience and drive bookings for local tourism operators.

The new centre will be located at Perth Station and provide a convenient location for visitors arriving by train into the city, including the increasing number of tourists who arrive on Airport Line services.

It will offer refreshed tourism operator brochure displays and consulting areas for detailed itinerary planning, providing an enhanced in-person experience.

It also aligns with the Government's investment in the redevelopment of the Perth Station forecourt.

The project represents a milestone in the WA Government's 10-year tourism strategy, which identified a need for a welcome centre that embodies WA's destination brand, celebrates its unique culture and heritage, and encourages visitors to explore the State.

The design and aesthetic of the centre - fitted with predominately locally sourced materials - has been developed by WA design team State 28, with a Noongar artist to be commissioned as the lead to create a mural artwork, which will be woven through the centre as a cultural narrative installation.

Visitor Centres in WA directly generate an estimated $261 million for the visitor economy, and indirectly support up to $740 million in visitor spend each year.

Comments attributed to Tourism Minister Rita Saffioti:

"Tourism is a big contributor to our State's economy and forms an important part of our efforts to continue diversifying.

"The latest data in the year ending June 2024 shows visitor spend grew to $18.3 billion, a massive $400 million increase from March 2024, so this shows how valuable the tourism industry is.

"We are so fortunate to have such an incredible range of natural attractions, landscapes and experiences right throughout the State, from experiencing Rottnest Island and the Swan Valley in the city to visiting world-class wineries in the South West or swimming with whale sharks at Ningaloo up north.

"It's really important that visitors to Western Australia are able to easily understand what's on offer when they first visit WA and be able to book those experiences on the spot, which is what this new hub will do."
