Karen Brown appointed to lead Lotterywest and Healthway Boards

The Cook Government is
pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Karen Brown as Chair of both
Lotterywest and Healthway Boards, commencing on 1 September 2024. Ms Brown
replaces Professor Peter Klinken AC as Chair, who retires after a six-year
tenure.
Ms Brown has extensive
experience in media and business and has worked across industries including
education, health, property, resources, agriculture and science.
She is currently a Lotterywest Board member, and her board experience also spans the Royal Flying Doctor Service, South Metropolitan Health Service, Edge Employment Solutions, The Pinnacle Foundation, and Purple Communications.
Professor Klinken's tenure as Chair of both Lotterywest and Healthway has placed both organisations in a position of strength, which includes record Lotterywest sales and community investment, and Healthway delivering significant health promotion outcomes for the State.
New members will also be joining each Board:
- Dr Guy Singleton joins Lotterywest's Board for a three-year term. Dr Singleton is Chief External Affairs Officer at DEVELOP, with significant experience in Indigenous people's development, natural resource management, political engagement, and the resources and not-for-profit sector.
- Professor Billie Giles-Corti joins Healthway's Board for a three-year term. Professor Giles-Corti is Professor Emerita at RMIT University and is Australia's leading public health researcher who has been at the forefront of urban planning and health research globally.
Dr Guy Singleton will fill the Lotterywest Board member position, previously held by Karen Brown. Professor Giles-Corti fills the vacancy by Healthway Board member Hon Jim McGinty AM, who has retired after serving six years.
