A new high frequency bus service will link students and staff from Curtin University of Technology with the new Perth-Mandurah rail service.
Bus routes 100 and 101, which are jointly funded by Curtin and the Public Transport Authority, will operate between Canning Bridge station and Curtin bus station servicing up to 6,000 travellers each day and running every eight minutes during peak times.
Planning and Infrastructure Minister Alannah MacTiernan said the new services illustrated the improved level of service metropolitan commuters would receive with the commencement of the Perth-Mandurah railway on December 23.
"Curtin University of Technology has enthusiastically seized this opportunity to make the campus more easily accessible by public transport," Ms MacTiernan said.
"Students and staff from the southern suburbs and Mandurah will now have much easier journeys to university using Transperth's integrated bus and train services.
"Those travelling from the northern suburbs will make only the one convenient transfer from trains on the Joondalup line, which pass underneath the city and on through Canning Bridge station."
Victoria Park MLA Ben Wyatt said Curtin's new link with the railway could cut journey times for commuters from a wide range of areas across the Transperth network.
"The new service will be much appreciated by the students," Mr Wyatt said.
"It will take some of the pressure out of the daily travel to the Curtin uni campus.

"Local residents from Bentley, Waterford, Karawara, Manning and Como will also be able to use this service to link to the new railway."
Ms MacTiernan said the State Government and Curtin were working on a plan to develop shuttle bus services between Canning Bridge, Curtin University of Technology and Cannington, as part of the development of a network city activity corridor.
The new services, which begin operation on December 24, will replace Route 74 from Perth to Curtin, introduced by the University and Transperth as an interim measure earlier this year and Route 555 from Booragoon to Curtin.
