  • Butler Extension Project to be delivered early and under budget
  • Work continues to connect the Butler extension to the Joondalup Line

A major milestone in the Liberal National Government's Butler Extension Project has been achieved, with the rail station now complete.

Transport Minister Dean Nalder said the station would open in September for passenger use, once the signalling, overhead wiring and technical works were completed.

Mr Nalder said the Butler Extension Project would come in $20million inside the budgeted $241million, and would open about three months early.

About 2,000 passengers are expected to use the station each day.

"This extension, 7.5km north of Clarkson Station, is a vital step in linking the residents of Butler and surrounding areas to the Joondalup Line," the Minister said.

"We are working hard to deliver this project ahead of schedule, hopefully in time for the September school holidays."

The station features CCTV cameras linked to the PTA's high-tech Central Monitoring Room, digital display boards, extensive landscaping, and public art.

The State Government will provide 11 new buses to provide feeder services, 900 car bays and a route called a principal shared pathway so passengers can walk or cycle to and from the station.

The PTA will begin testing trains along the extension later this year.
