Aubin Grove Station designer selected

• Lead design consultant and ECI contractor appointed for Aubin Grove Station

• $57 million station will be located between Kwinana and Cockburn stations

Planning for the new $57 million Aubin Grove train station, which will be Perth's largest Park "~n' Ride station, has reached a key milestone.

Transport Minister Dean Nalder said CAMPS - a joint venture between Coniglio Ainsworth Architects Pty Ltd and M. P. S. Architects - had been selected as the lead design consultant for the project. Georgiou has been appointed as the early contractor involvement (ECI) contractor.

"CAMPS will work closely with Georgiou under an early contractor involvement model," Mr Nalder said.

"This ensures project planning is on the right track before the construction tender is finalised, and gives the State Government greater certainty on delivering the Aubin Grove Station on time and on budget.

"Projected patronage figures show there will be 3,900 boardings expected at the station every day, so it's important that we get the planning and design right."

Design and construction of the $57 million station will begin in 2015 and be completed late 2016. Passenger amenities at the new station will include public toilets, staff amenities, a kiosk, ticketing and add-value machines, as well as public art.

"The Government has also committed another $23 million toward funding two new three-car train sets to cater for increased demand once the station comes online," the Minister said.

"I hope the new station and its associated public transport options will encourage more commuters to leave their cars at home and use our excellent public transport system."

Aubin Grove will be connected to existing shared access pathways on both sides of the freeway via two footbridges, which will provide access for the hundreds of passengers who will walk and cycle to the station. The station will be serviced by six new bus feeder services and bicycle facilities will also be incorporated into the final design.

"Passengers who wish to drive to the station will have access to the largest car park on the Transperth network, with 2,000 bays and a dedicated drop-off area," Mr Nalder said.
