Taste of Western Australia at Elizabeth Quay
First restaurants, cafes and bars selected for Elizabeth Quay
Three experienced Perth operators to bring popular food culture to the waterfront
Operator sought for new ice-cream kiosk on the promenade
Elizabeth Quay will have restaurants, bars and cafes for all tastes and price ranges when Voyage Kitchen, V Burger Bar and the operator of The Stables Bar open new venues at the precinct.
Planning Minister John Day said the three well-established local businesses had been selected as the preferred proponents for three of the five venues at the quay.
"The variety of operators will ensure there is something for everyone, appealing to workers and tourists while also providing casual and take-away food options for families," Mr Day said.
"There will be opportunities for parents to grab a take-away coffee or lunch while their children enjoy the play facilities, for corporate travellers and city workers to enjoy a mid-week lunch or dinner with clients, and for families and friends to socialise on the weekend."
Replicating their beachside success in Sorrento, the operators of Voyage Kitchen cafe will bring casual dining to the Florence Hummerston Kiosk located on The Island. The experienced team at V Burger Bar in Floreat and East Victoria Park will develop their flagship store near BHP Billiton Water Park.
"Our priority was to select family friendly offerings for these two locations and I'm pleased both operators fit this brief," the Minister said.
The operators of The Stables Bar in Perth's CBD will transform the two-storey Eastern Promenade outlet into a new restaurant and bar, offering tapas and drinks on the rooftop and seafood dining on the first floor.
This venue will capitalise on the waterfront dining experience making it a prime location to cater for corporate groups, international visitors or inner-city residents looking for a contemporary lunch venue or something special on a night out.
Mr Day said these businesses were the first in a number of food and beverage offerings that were set to transform Elizabeth Quay into an exciting new dining and entertainment precinct.
A new ice-cream kiosk is also being planned for the Eastern Promenade.
