CBD workers called to donate Christmas gifts

• Minister launches annual Christmas appeal for local children in need
• All donations go to UnitingCare West's Operation Santa

Workers in Perth's central business district are being urged to use their lunch break for a charitable cause and buy a present for a child in need this Christmas.

Community Services Minister Robyn McSweeney is calling on city workers to buy an extra present this Christmas for those less fortunate.

"Christmas is a wonderful time to spend with family but it can be a stressful and sad time for those in need," Mrs McSweeney said.

"Perth is a bustling city and can I suggest if you are out grabbing lunch one day please pick up a children's present and drop it into my Christmas appeal box at London House, 216 St George's Terrace, Perth."

There is a collection box in the foyer of London House which will be cleared daily. Toy collections will continue until Tuesday December 18.

Presents are encouraged for children of any age and do not need to be wrapped.

Presents donated to the Minister's Christmas appeal will go to UnitingCare West's Operation Santa, which has been running for 21 years.

Each year, Operation Santa delivers thousands of gifts and hampers at Christmas time to families in need.
