Hon. Colin Barnett

Premier Colin Barnett today announced the ANZAC Peace Park in Albany would receive $897,773 from the State Government's Royalties for Regions' Country Local Government Fund (CLGF) to help complete the park in readiness for the ANZAC centenary.
The Premier was in Albany today to visit the ANZAC Peace Park, which provides a place for Albany residents to visit in remembrance of World War I soldiers
"It is important that Albany's role as a departure point for soldiers in World War I is recognised," Mr Barnett said.
"There is growing community support and awareness of the ANZAC story throughout Albany and this significant site provides a space for this story to be told.
"With the ANZAC centenary approaching it is timely that the Peace Park, which consists of a Pier of Remembrance, memorial wall and interpretive seating, should be near completion."
Regional Development Minister Brendon Grylls said he was pleased to see the City of Albany and the Shire of Denmark working together to demonstrate the regional significance of the project.
"The Royalties for Regions funding, which includes Country Local Government Funds from both the City of Albany and the Shire of Denmark, would enable construction of the final elements of the park including the Lone Pine Grove; completion of pathways and performance space; and installation of lighting," Mr Grylls said.
"The park will provide a place for residents and visitors to remember and celebrate the ANZAC tradition and to reflect throughout the year."
The CLGF is a Royalties for Regions fund which supports the maintenance and development of new facilities in regional communities and assist country local governments with building and maintaining their community infrastructure.
