  • WA's Taste Master job has already attracted 67,000 applications
  • Interest from people from almost every country in the world

There has been an extraordinary response to Western Australia's 'Taste Master' position as part of the Best Jobs in the World campaign, with 67,000 job applications in the first three and a half weeks.

Tourism Minister Kim Hames said the level of interest had exceeded all expectations and with entries open for another two weeks, the judges faced a difficult task to pick the winner.

"Of the video entries we've seen so far there have been some very exciting prospects from people with the right personality, experience and passion to bring the job of WA's Taste Master alive," Dr Hames said.

"The winner will be required to eat their way across WA, sampling our finest produce and experiencing our best bars, restaurants, cafes, wineries and micro-breweries."

The WA Taste Master will receive a six-month contract, with accommodation, food and travel expenses paid for as part of a $100,000 salary package.

The Best Jobs in the World campaign is a collaboration between Tourism Australia, Tourism WA and five other State and Territory tourism organisations, and offers six 'Best Jobs in the World', along similar lines to Queensland's very successful campaign in 2009.
