The State Government has approved the sale of Crown land in the Wheatbelt region to deliver residential and key worker housing in the Shire of Narrogin.
The land on Northwood Street, Narrogin will be sold at a discounted price to the Shire of Narrogin to deliver housing options and boost the availability of affordable housing within the community.
The site is being transferred as part of the Housing Diversity Pipeline program, which seeks to partner with local government, industry and not-for-profit organisations to deliver housing outcomes on State Government landholdings that meet the needs of local communities.
The Shire expressed interest in acquiring the site for more residential housing, including key worker accommodation, driven by growth in renewable industry projects and other regional initiatives.
The State Government has agreed to transfer the 1,785 square metre site to the Shire at a 50 per cent discount, to help provide more housing options throughout regional Western Australia.
