As a Graduate Officer, you will work with senior officers, engage with external stakeholders and gain experience in key areas such as:
- Aboriginal heritage and lands management
- Crown land administration
- Heritage conservation services
- Integrated land and infrastructure policy development
- Land use planning and policy development
- Business and corporate services
The Department's vast scope of work encompasses cultural assets such as Whiteman Park, Fremantle Prison and Aboriginal Lands Trust and Crown land estates. We also work closely with other agencies on strategic State Government priorities such as METRONET.
About the Program
Overview
The 12-month program includes:
- An in-house mentoring program
- Regular exposure to members of the Corporate Executive including the Director General
- Access to strategic and state significant projects, as well as the management teams and decision makers
- Personal and professional development in particular soft skills training
- Targeted rotations that provide multidisciplinary experiences
- Inclusive and energising wellness and engagement initiatives
- Enrolment in the Public Sector Commission’s 10-month graduate development program, Launch.
Graduates are employed at Level 3 with a commencement salary of $79,156 a year, plus superannuation. This is adjusted when required in accordance with the Public Service Award 1992 and Public Sector CSA Agreement 2021.
Location
Your primary workplace will be at 140 William Street in Perth CBD, conveniently located above Perth Underground Station, making it easily accessible for commuting. In addition, the role may offer opportunities for regional travel.
About you
- You must be a recent university graduate with a minimum of an undergraduate degree in disciplines such as Aboriginal studies, archaeology, anthropology, architecture, business, environmental science, public policy, property, surveying, statistics, valuations, urban and regional planning, engineering, law, finance, and many others. You also need to have an interest in making the best use of the state’s natural and built assets for the sustainable and responsible development of all Western Australian communities; and have the following attributes:
- Collaborative
- Curious
- Innovative
- Action oriented.
- You are an Australian citizen, permanent resident or entitled to live and work indefinitely in Australia.
- You are able to provide proof of identity (100-point check with details advised after selection) and a satisfactory National Police Certificate issued by the Western Australia Police.
