Department of Communities is proud to be partnering with Parkerville Children and Youth Care and the Sisters of St John of God to deliver Western Australia’s first youth homelessness early intervention and diversion service to support youth at-risk, a pilot program known as Ruby’s.

Ruby’s model aims to prevent homelessness by fostering family stability and providing essential support.

By prioritising family reunification and stability, the program focuses on restoring the family unit, enhancing communication, and promoting cooperation among family members.

Ruby’s caters to 12 to 17 year olds, and will provide support for young people experiencing mental health illnesses, drug and alcohol use and family conflicts.

The innovative youth homelessness accommodation service will launch under a 2.5 year pilot program and is scheduled to commence from 1 July 2024.

The WA Government will contribute more than $2.4 million across the pilot program through Department of Communities existing funding initiatives with Parkerville.

The Sisters of St John of God will contribute approximately $1.3 million to the pilot program.

Ruby’s will operate seven days a week from Parkerville Children and Youth Care’s and will replace the Armadale Youth Accommodation Service.
