WA businesses recognised for powering global trade

The 36th year of the Western Australian Export Awards continue to recognise the impactful work WA businesses play in our economy

For another year, the Western Australian Export Awards have showcased exceptional local export industry talent.

The Awards are an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of WA companies and their role in exporting home-grown innovation across the globe.

Over 100 applications from 48 different companies were submitted across the 13 award categories spanning from various industries including technology, education, resources and energy, green technologies and more.

Austral Fisheries took out the coveted 2024 Western Australian Exporter of the Year award after it received the bulk of the votes from the esteemed judging panel. The company won multiple awards through its work as one of Australia’s largest integrated commercial fishing companies. Austral Fisheries adopts sustainability and carbon neutrality practices within its commercial fishing of fish and prawn products.

Exports remain the bulk fuel for the Western Australian economic growth and is underpinned by the important contribution of the state’s local businesses. Western Australia exported $255.3 billion of goods in the year to April 2024, which accounts for nearly half of Australia’s total goods exports.
