The delegation of WA businesses at the 2024 Singapore International Agri-Food Week (SIAW) is being supported by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD).

SIAW 2024 attracts industry leaders, policymakers, decision-makers and innovators from around the globe to explore solutions, forge new partnerships and advance agri-food technology development and adoption in the region.

The gathering includes the Asia-Pacific Agri-Food Innovation Summit, the Agri-Food Tech Expo Asia, a roundtable on Novel Food Regulations and the Global Agri-Food Scientific Symposium.

DPIRD Business Development Manager Simon Tarmo said the mission would build on the gains of the previous year’s trade event.

“WA’s delegation for SIAW 2023 received positive feedback, indicating our agrifood-tech startups and established businesses are well regarded in the region and ready to unearth even more opportunities,” he said.

“This year’s exhibitors fit in well with the SIAW 2024 theme ‘Scaling Innovation in Asia’s Agri-Food Systems’, with exhibitors spanning seaweed, biofertilisers, internet of things devices, sustainable packaging, carbon farming, traceability and novel plant-based products.”

DPIRD is hosting WA displays at the Tech Expo and Innovation Summit, where businesses will promote their products and solutions.

The department will coordinate introductions and meetings, as well as support WA businesses participating in several targeted networking programs, including the Women Founders and Funders pitching event.

“The mission program provides a unique opportunity to for innovative WA businesses to promote agrifood-tech solutions and innovations to an international audience,” Mr Tarmo said.

“It will build on the connections made during the highly successful evokeAG 2024 gathering in Perth earlier this year and help this emerging industry to grow and flourish.”
