The WA Government has released the WA Renewable Hydrogen Strategy 2024-2030, to support development of the renewable hydrogen industry.
The strategy aims to keep WA on track to become a global renewable energy powerhouse, as a leading producer, user, and exporter of renewable hydrogen, products and technologies.
This achievement could add billions to the WA economy, provide thousands of extra jobs each year, and ensure WA continues to contribute to local and global industry decarbonisation.
A key focus is to use renewable hydrogen to produce products, adding further value to the state's resources.
The strategy, which is a comprehensive update of a previous version, focuses on:
- Investing in infrastructure and activating hubs.
- Speeding up approvals and enhancing social licence.
- Supporting strategic green ammonia and green metals projects.
The strategy was developed in consultation with key industry and community stakeholders.
