Training participants at Central Regional TAFE
Greg said both groups were made up of enthusiastic and engaged participants.
"Iluka Resources was a good example of how people get selected to become Contact Officers and the training experience helps them to appreciate the existing skills and qualities they naturally possess and which are an essential part of fulfilling the role," he said.
TAFE participants were from administrative and teaching areas.
Greg said the session at TAFE included people who had previously been Contact Officers and were very happy to see it being reinstated.
"The TAFE participants shared about how they had been able to assist people in the past and how important the role is to ensure that people are supported in the workplace to navigate challenging situations involving discrimination and harassment," he said.
Greg said the group at TAFE included managers who may not act formally as Contact Officers but who value knowing how the role functions.
"As managers need to know how the Contact Officer role functions and how they need to cooperate when supporting staff with potential and actual complaints, the session was also beneficial to that cohort," he said.
