A Thematic History of Western Australia is designed to provide context to help understand the heritage value of places being considered for inclusion in the State Register of Heritage Places.

It provides a concise overview of Western Australia framed across eight themes, and draws on the environmental, economic, social, political and cultural influences throughout the State's development.

Examples are provided throughout the work accompanied by a selection of captivating images to illustrate some of the stories and chronological periods presented. These show how a story can come to life within a physical place, and how the significance of places is enhanced by understanding how they fit within important themes.

This publication is an invaluable resource for practitioners and others within the heritage sector, and a captivating read for anyone who enjoys delving into WA's history and heritage.

A Thematic History of WA is available online, and in hard copy at key public libraries throughout the State. Copies are also available from the Fremantle Prison Gift Shop for $65 each.
