The WA Industry Participation Strategy is moving online

News story
The WAIPS business processes are transitioning to an online portal from July 2024.
Last updated:

The Western Australian Industry Participation Strategy (WAIPS) provides local industry, in particular small and medium sized businesses, with greater opportunities to access and compete for State Government contracts.

The move to an exclusively online platform as of 1 July 2024 marks a significant shift in the way agencies and their suppliers will engage with the process.

Currently, bidding for certain WA Government contracts and submitting Participation Plans requires businesses to download, complete and email documents. With this online migration, agencies and their suppliers will have the convenience of logging into an online system to complete and submit forms digitally.

This development aims to streamline and simplify the business processes for the completion of procurement related documentation, and its subsequent reporting requirements. By presenting the information clearly, accessibly and conveniently in one place, this improvement will save agencies and businesses time while reducing operational and compliance costs, granting them greater opportunity to participate.

The WAIPS is a key feature of the WA Industry Link and is an outcome of the Western Australian Jobs Act 2017. The WAIPS applies to all State Government departments, agencies, statutory authorities and government trading entities. It does not apply to universities and local government procurement.
