The WA public sector has welcomed 41 new Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander trainees into the Solid Futures program.

For most, this was a moment of anticipation and possibility.

“I’m a little bit nervous and very excited,” said Sebastian who is joining the State Solicitor’s Office.

Kaid, preparing to start at the Department of Fire and Emergency Services, was also keen to get going.

“I found out about the program through a family friend who suggested I put my name forward. I’m excited to learn everything I can,” he said.

Over the next 12 months (or 18 months part time), these trainees gain hands on experience in government agencies while studying for a Certificate III in Government. Solid Futures develops careers and fosters a talented and more inclusive public sector.
