Public sector employees play a pivotal role in shaping policies and services that address the needs of all Western Australians, ensuring these are inclusive, responsive and forward looking.

The recent SES Development Series course Using Policy to Shape WA focused on the importance of incorporating citizen and user feedback to create and implement social policies that reflect inclusivity, responsiveness and innovation.

Launched earlier this year, the SES Development Series enhances the capabilities of Senior Executive Service (SES) members in the public sector, equipping them with essential skills to navigate the complexities of their multi-faceted roles.

Santa Cardenia from the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage found the course particularly beneficial.

“It was excellent, giving us an opportunity to work across agencies in the space of shaping policy,” she said.

“The sharing of views, ideas, and experiences has been really valuable.”

By refining skills and encouraging inter-agency collaboration, SES members are better positioned to shape policies that truly reflect and serve the communities they serve.
