Removal of condemned Ellam Street Jetty

Media release
The Department of Water and Environmental Regulation has scheduled the removal of a condemned jetty on the Swan River at Ellam Street in Victoria Park.
Last updated:

Swan Avon Regional Manager Don Cummins said the jetty had deteriorated over a number of years and removal was essential for public safety.

“The jetty has been condemned since 2007 and while it has not been legally accessed by the public for some time, its deteriorating condition means it needs to be removed.”

During the works, which are expected to begin early April 2019 and take two to three weeks to complete, the footpath running adjacent to the river will be closed to public access. Pedestrians will be redirected to the footpath on the southern side of the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation building.

Silt curtains will be installed during the removal to ensure any disturbed sediment remains in the works area and navigational buoys will be installed to direct water traffic around the location.
