International Women’s Day has been observed on 8 March each year since 1911 to promote gender equality and celebrate the extraordinary contributions made by women worldwide.

In 2011 on the Centenary of International Women’s Day, the WA Women’s Hall of Fame was established to recognise the achievements of Western Australian women. In 2012 the WA Women’s Hall of Fame created a Roll of Honour to acknowledge the positive legacy of women no longer with us. This year the Roll of Honour photographic exhibition offers a fascinating insight into the diverse efforts of the inductees and the profound benefits to our state.

Work that began under the leadership of June Williams, to educate people about the Act, continues in the Commission’s program of training and information sessions. If you are interested in the Commission delivering a session to your community group, please contact us by email at training@eoc.wa.gov.au or phone 9216 3927.

General information about training offered by the Commission is available on our website - Community Education and Training.

The WA Women’s Hall of Fame - Roll of Honour Exhibition is on at the State Library until 6 July 2025 with information available on the Library’s website
