As well as showcasing the very best of heritage practices, the awards educate the wider community about the importance of conserving our cultural heritage for future generations.

A new category ‘Conservation or Adaptive Reuse of a Local Heritage Place’ has been added this year, to recognise outstanding work that has been undertaken of a local heritage place, and its benefits to the community.

The category 'Contribution by an Organisation' has also been expanded to recognise the work and commitment of a wide range of organisations. Community-based, non-profit, public or private organisations, local governments and State government agencies are all encouraged to nominate for this award.

The 2024 award categories are:

  • Voluntary Individual Contribution
  • Professional Contribution
  • Contribution by an Organisation
  • Interpretation Project
  • Heritage Tourism
  • Conservation or Adaptive Reuse of a Local Heritage Place
