Expressions of Interest for the Innovation Advisory Board are now closed.

Western Australia’s Innovation Strategy was released in 2022 to provide a 10-year vision for the State, setting out clear goals to steer and prioritise efforts. It provides a holistic approach to innovation that recognises the many parts that make up the innovation ecosystem – and the central importance of people.

The Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science & Innovation (JTSI) is establishing an Innovation Advisory Board. The independent board will advise and support the Minister for Innovation and the Digital Economy and the Department in the implementation of the Strategy. This includes providing advice on what metrics the government should use to measure the State's progress.

JTSI is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from a diverse mix of independent representatives, spanning the State's innovation ecosystem, who are based in Western Australia. Members will represent at least one of the following areas in entrepreneurship and innovation:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
  • Tertiary Institution, Commercialisation or IP role
  • Commercialisation or Intellectual Property translation expert or lawyer
  • Corporate innovation lead
  • Innovation-driven small business owner, startup founder or entrepreneur
  • Innovation manager, from state or local government
  • Investment lead, angel investor or venture capitalist
  • Innovation Manager, with national or global perspective
  • Regional or remote
  • Young (Aged 18 – 30)
  • Another underrepresented group

The Board will meet approximately 4 times per year. Member terms will be 2 years with the possibility of reappointment and will be voluntary (unpaid).

Please refer to Terms of Reference for more information on responsibilities and requirements.
