On 10 July the Commission shared a stall with HaDSCO (Health and Disability Services Complaints Office) in the Murray Street Mall in Perth as part of the Commission's Stall in the Mall series.

The information stall was visited by city workers, shoppers and tourists supporting and wanting to know more about NAIDOC Week and how it related to the work of the Commission and HaDSCO.

WA Commissioner for Equal Opportunity Dr John Byrne said NAIDOC Week was one of the most important events on the Commission's calendar.

"The discrimination and harassment Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people face is still at unacceptable levels in Western Australia and Australia so our involvement in providing education to the community during NAIDOC Week is very important," he said

The Commission also held an information stall in the Mirrabooka NAIDOC event on 11 July.

Dr Byrne congratulated the organisers at City of Stirling for putting together such a successful event.

"Over the years that I have participated in the Mirrabooka NAIDOC event I have seen it grow from strength to strength.

"This year's event was one of the best community events I have participated in with strong community support and a strong array of stalls to visit for all ages to enjoy," he said.
