Despite a public warning being issued last year, a Perth air conditioning installer and builder of custom vehicle trailers continues to attract more consumer complaints for failing to begin or complete his work and not carrying out repairs.

The first warning against Kyle John Graham Feisst aka Chris Johnson or John Miller was issued on 13 July 2021. Then, he had 28 outstanding complaints against his name with a total of $30,000 being owed to consumers.

Since this warning, a further 14 complaints have been lodged with consumers claiming a further $31,000 is owed from deposits and full amounts being paid for work which was either not commenced or completed, and no refunds were provided. Other issues include poor workmanship, failing to repair or replace faulty equipment and undertaking electrical work without a licence.

Mr Feisst, who advertises on Facebook Marketplace, does not hold a motor vehicle repairer’s licence which is required for custom trailer repair work. He is operating, or has operated, under several business names that are not currently registered:

  • Perth Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Repairs;
  • Wat4Now Customs (also spelt Wot4Now Customs);
  • Perth Air Services; and
  • Aim Mechanical.

Commissioner for Consumer Protection Penny Lipscombe said Mr Feisst is a recalcitrant offender and consumers should avoid dealing with him.

“It’s extremely disappointing that, despite our previous warning and numerous efforts to resolve these issues, Mr Feisst continues to engage in poor business practices by failing to deliver goods and services that have already been fully or partly paid for,” Ms Lipscombe said.

“He has also failed to repair or replace equipment that has broken down or was not fit for purpose and there are concerns that he may be installing his air conditioning systems without having an electrician’s licence.

“Our history with Mr Feisst dates back to 2017 and he has continually refused to cooperate with attempts to resolve his customer’s complaints and often displays aggressive behaviour towards his aggrieved customers and Consumer Protection officers.

“This total disregard for his customers and the law leaves us with no option but to recommend that WA consumers avoid doing business with Mr Feisst or any of the many businesses he operates under.

“He often uses the names Chris Johnson and John Miller to avoid customers finding out about his woeful history, so we want consumers to be aware of his conduct and use other, more reputable, traders when looking to get an air conditioning system installed or a custom trailer built.”

Consumers who have had unsatisfactory dealings with Kyle Feisst (or Chris Johnson or John Miller) and have yet to lodge a formal complaint should do so on the Consumer Protection website. Enquiries can be made by email consumer@demirs.wa.gov.au or by calling 1300 30 40 54.
