The Perth Casino Royal Commission has today submitted its Interim Report to the Governor of Western Australia, the Hon Kim Beazley AC.

A copy of the report has also been provided to the office of the Premier, The Hon Mark McGowan MLA.

Under the Commission’s Terms of Reference, it was required to submit an interim report on the regulatory framework by 30 June. This requirement meant that in the first phase of its hearings the Commission has focused on how the regulator, the Gaming and Wagering Commission of Western Australia, has carried out its functions and the statutory framework which oversees the Perth Casino.

The Commission is not empowered to publish the Interim Report. It is a matter for government to decide if the Interim Report is published.

The second phase of the Commission’s inquiry will include the suitability of the Perth Casino licensee.  The present plan is for the next witnesses to be called from Monday, 19 July. Opening statements are expected to be made at a hearing on Friday, 16 July.

Unless otherwise advised, the hearings will be held in Hearing Room 3, Level 18, 111 St Georges Tce, Perth, commencing at 10am.

The hearings are open to the public, however, seating in the public gallery is limited. The hearings will be live streamed.
