Launch is an exciting development program run by the Commission to help university graduates lay the foundation for successful careers in the public sector.
Ella Dawson from the Department Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries delivered an Acknowledgement of Country at the graduation ceremony. She reflected on her experience on Bardi Country and shared insights into the deep connection between people, culture and land. Her words set a meaningful tone for the event, highlighting the importance of inclusivity and understanding in public service.
Fellow participant Nivetha Pathamanathan from the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development reflected on her Launch journey, comparing the year to planning for her move to WA.
“Preparing is exactly what we have been doing by coming to Launch. Just as we carefully plan before we travel, we must prepare ourselves to shape our career journeys,” she said.
Nivetha also spoke about the invaluable connections she made during the program.
“The network of people I now know from across the sector has helped me feel more confident and is setting me up for the future,” she said.
Public Sector Commissioner Sharyn O’Neill PSM reflected on her own career journey, starting out as a new teacher in Marble Bar. She urged the graduates to embrace challenges, pursue opportunities and remain adaptable throughout their own careers.
