You can’t ask leaders that!
For International Women’s Day 2025, we did.
Take a glimpse into the experiences of 10 female CEOs in the WA public sector to see just how different leadership journeys can be.
The CEOs talk about their motivations and challenges, the contributions of people and families, and their unwavering service to Western Australians.
Reflecting on this year’s theme of March Forward: For ALL Women and Girls, they show their commitment to equal opportunity for all.
In September 2024 representation of women employed in the WA public sector’s Senior Executive Service was 50%. Just a few years ago this target wasn’t expected to be reached until 2035.
Getting to parity is a significant achievement and the insights of these impressive leaders highlight how we can all continue the forward momentum to ensure an equitable future.
“We need diverse thinking if we're going to do things differently – to have really capable people solving problems for WA,” says Public Sector Commissioner Sharyn O’Neill PSM.
“This drives innovation, enhances problem solving and improves service delivery. Ensuring women have equal opportunities to lead benefits the entire community.”
