Western Australia's Innovation Advisory Board held their first meeting in late October.
The Board's 11 members represent a cross-section of industries in the innovation and entrepreneurial space, and bring extensive experience to the table. Their role is to provide independent advice and support in implementing the WA Government’s 10-year Innovation Strategy, released in 2022.
The strategy is designed to establish WA as a global hub of invention, investment, innovation and impact.
In their first meeting, they discussed the purpose of the board and examined aspects of the innovation ecosystem that could be measured to track WA's progress against the strategy's actions and goals.
Factors discussed included innovation ecosystems comparative to WA that could be used as benchmarks. The development of benchmark metrics will be an ongoing discussion point.
Other agenda items included an update on how WA was tracking against priority action areas.
