The Western Trade Coast Infrastructure Strategy (The Strategy) is focused on transforming this critical industrial area.
Covering 3,900 hectares of land and as the only heavy industrial precinct in the Perth Metropolitan area, the Western Trade Coast supports 42,900 direct and indirect jobs and represents just under 3 per cent of the State's workforce.
Established almost 70 years ago as one of the first heavy industrial areas in the State, its future strategic industrial, economic and community impact is immense and pivotal to the State’s and the nation’s economic diversification and decarbonisation.
The Strategy was developed in conjunction with industry and identifies investment opportunities to address longstanding industry and community concerns. It features 12 specific strategies across transportation, utilities, maritime, land use and policy and regulatory frameworks.
There is a comprehensive report delivered by Arup and an overview report summarising the strategy recommendations and proposed infrastructure options including activities already underway by government.
