As a Kija Elder Stephen was able to impart his own vast knowledge, mentoring them to embrace their individuality and culture.
"I implored them to challenge behaviours if they felt it wasn't right, in particular in employment but also outside the workplace," he said.
Stephen encouraged the students to embrace equal opportunity legislation to challenge those behaviours and reminded them as leaders to encourage their staff as well.
The Equal Opportunity Commission runs four Equal Opportunity Law Awareness sessions per year for the Certificate IV Aboriginal Leadership and Mentoring students.
