On 1 January 2025, the state Hairdressers Award will be updated with a range of new provisions, and its coverage expanded to include the beauty industry. State system employers and employees in the beauty industry will be covered by a WA award for the first time.
To reflect the expansion of coverage, the award will be renamed the Hair and Beauty Industry (WA) Award.
An award summary for the Hair and Beauty Industry (WA) Award is now available to assist employers in preparing for the changes commencing 1 January 2025.
